SUEZ Services

SUEZ is a leading French-based multinational corporation, with operations primarily in water, electricity and natural gas supply, and waste management. This AfterCare contract covers the Suez Services Portal. Among other things, the portal includes an administration module that is built on top of the Open Source LAMP stack and eZ Publish CMS solution. Under this aftercare contract, Dixite consultants will partially re-engineer and extend the portal to provide the communication team of Suez Services with an array of enhanced services.

ETNRecy.net is a thematic network setup under the fourth Framework Program with the financial support of DG Research of the European Commission.

After a few months of operating their web site, ETN Recy committee decided to include a number of additional technical features on their web site.

CoBoNet is the multimedia service provider for the construction sector.

Through its InfoPoint, CoBoNet wanted to create a central point of technical information for the construction sector. The targeted public are specialists needing high level technical information on construction materials.

  • become a central repository of important information needed by construction sector members;
  • increase members loyalty by providing a professional set of information services (search engine, mailing, etc.);
  • ensure the tool recognition by important belgian construction actors by holding press conferences and other media coverage.
  • ensure the storage of information of various nature (data, texts, media, etc.);

Dixite performed a number of interviews and analysed the BENOR/ATG documentation repository in order to identify the user and technical requirements and describe them in a URD. After the requirements were set, we propose to develop a web portal solution and realise a proof-of-concept in order to ensure that an Oracle*Intermedia based solution would match the indexation/retrieval requirements.

After the proof-of-concept was validated by CoBoNet team, the full-scale solution was developed, tested and deployed on CoBoNet technical infrastructure.

Development of a plug-in for an online groupware solution

Emakina is one of the leading e-business agency in Belgium.

Emakina was developping a set of marketing related activities from bannering campaigns, web building, etc. for Proximus.

In order to manage the flow of business demands from their customer, Emakina requested Dixite to adapt an Open Source groupware application.

Effectenbank Stroeve, member of RaboBank, is a leading capital merchant bank active on the Dutch stock exchange market.

The Stroeve bank business objectives were to provide a set of financial on-line services to their lead customers. In order to ensure that the software and hardware architecture would provide the highest possible security level, they requested the project leader company, IconMedialab to contract the services of an independant company.

European Court case law on CD-ROM

CURIA is the name of the European Court of Justice website. OPOCE is the Office for the Official Publications of the European Union.

The Court of Jutice requested OPOCE that its paper collection of case-law should be:

  • edited under a digital format;
  • published on CD-ROM media;
  • in a cost-effective manner;
  • searchable;
  • for each of the 11th european languages;
  • using the same interface as the CURIA web site.
  • ensure proper document indexing for any encoding and file formats requested;
  • ensure that the indexing mechanism would be simple to use;
  • all the data, indexes and documents for a complete year of jurisprudence should stick within a single CD-ROM;
  • be supported by most off-the-shelf browsers.

Using the Open Source skill of its team, Dixite proposed a state-of-the-art solution based on GPL middleware.

Dixite identified the system requirements and submitted a URD to the customer. After validation, a search engine has been developped using Java and lead OSS indexation engine.

European Court case law on CD-ROM- AfterCare

CURIA is the name of the European Court of Justice website. OPOCE is the Office for the Official Publications of the European Union.

For the Court of Jutice/OPOCE, Dixite developped an Open Source based indexation and search engine for the publication of incremental monthly case laws publications on CD-ROM. The Court of Justice requested the addition of a number of user-centric functionalities in order to:

  • integrate PDF file format within the CD-ROM;
  • develop a powerfull syntax for plain text researches;
  • keywords highlight and navigation mechanisms;
  • add functionalities in order to improve user experience with the CD-ROM;
  • ensure that full-year documents and application will fit within a single CD-ROM;
  • define and implement a powerfull search syntax;
  • ensure search results exactitude;
  • ensure support by most off-the-shelf browsers.

Dixite performed AfterCare services for the CURIA change requests.

Within a revised version of the URD, Dixite collected the new technical system requirements and defined a complete search syntax using EBNF. All the development cycle was performed using RUP.

The Réseau Archange is an institutional business angel targeting companies of Hainaut, Belgium and Aisne, France regions. They sponsor projects aiming at developping e-commerce within regional enterprises. Within this context and with the support of the European InterRef IIIa program, they issued a call for tenders in order to realise a web portal system to support the on-line marketing activites of 200 companies.

Network performance audit consultancy

While working on the three portal sites project, the management of CeRDT described to Dixite a number of misfunctioning of their network services used on their three sites(Charleroi, Mons and Tournai).

Dixite proposed to realise a consultancy mission in order to audit the various aspects of these services performance.

Fishery Information Data Exchange System

The mission of the CEC-Directorate General for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs is to ensure the delivery of the Commission's political priorities in the areas of fisheries, the Law of the Sea and Maritime Affairs.

The business objectives of the FIDES project were to:

  • develop a one-stop system to automate the management of fishery data using Internet technologies;
  • using a technology accessible by national administrations in the EU Member States and the European Commission;
  • offering a wide range of telecommunications alternatives such as web, email and file transfer;
  • integrate data formatted in national based formats.
  • provide a state-of-the-art architecture;
  • develop and deploy a scalable system in order to support heavy workload;
  • develop a format-independant parsing engine to accept the different file formats of Member States reports;
  • develop a centralised authentication mechanism for Member States users independant of the telecommunications media used;
  • integrate the solution within the Fisheries DG environment;
  • ensure corrective and evolutive maintenance over three years;

Dixite developped and maintained FIDES. Based on a system prototype developped previously, Dixite specified the User and Technical requirements in URD. Related to data, conceptual and physical data models were designed and as well as an independant pivot data format.

In order to ensure proper authentication, an centralised Identity Management System was specified and deployed using LDAP technologies. In order to ensure the thight technical objectives, Dixite designed the system using an object oriented approach using Java as the programming language for the Fides II server.

Over three years, our AfterCare service has been realised in order to complement the system with features including an administration and statistical reporting system.

GDM developped an in-house legacy solution in order to create and maintain its information repository. Its business objectives were:

  • realise an evolutive data model after the re-engineering of the current data;

After Dixite developped the CD-ROM version of their guide, GDM planned to gain some an extra market share by deploying its services using the Internet media.

Joh. Enschedé/Van Muysewinkel is a leading european security printing company.

For the OPOCE, Enschedé had to met business goals including:

  • collect periodically over a telecommunication channel a set of pre-formatted documents processing demands;
  • ensure appropriate processing including format validators, parsing, formatting and printing;
  • package the newly formatted documents;
  • ensure the proper package transmission to OPOCE;
  • in a cost-effective and fault-tolerant manner;

The technical challenge was demanding including:

  • implement a fault-tolerant workflow management mechanism;
  • integrate into the processing chain, processes running on various technical platforms;
  • ensure an easy administration of the document processing chain.

Dixite evaluated enschedé's existing information system, workflow and associated elements and all major characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of the current data collection/management.

Once our analysis was finalised within a URD, our engineers designed, developed and deployed our solution on a robust platforms enabling the company to meet the mandated requirements for their document collection & processing.

In order to allow a user friendly processing chain management, our solution included a remote administration of the processing queues using browser-based technology. Enschedé was therefore capable of assessing its processing situation and implementing well-informed corrective actions.

For Dixite, the technical challenge was to deliver a ready-made solution from scratch including:

  • realise a technical feasibility study in order to evaluate a provisional budget for the system realisation;
  • define the infrastructure respecting IT constraints;
  • implement a system maximising automation where all the workflow between sales, chief editor, editors, QA and customers would be fully automated;
  • system interfaces should be designed for non-IT staff;
  • ensure the training of all NewsUP! department members;
  • develop an alert system to respect strict delivery times;
  • ensure content formatting in XML, XHTML, RTF and PDF formats;
  • insure data dispatching using local/remote DB storage, FTP and Mail;

During a consultancy mission, Dixite interviewed the principal conceptors of the business project. We collected their requirements in a URD document and proposed a budgetary line in order to realise their demands.

After Dixite was awarded the contract, we refined the technicalities of the project within an ADD and DDD. The CMS solution proposed was based on IBM Lotus technologies for implementing the workflow and Java/Struts for the document formatting and publishing. Also In creating this workflow system the client was also able to track and audit each writer's work, and maintain and re-use an accessible archive of all submitted articles.

RDC - Site refactoring

Since 1992, RDC-Environment has become the belgian specialist in realising complex studies requiring a new approach to resolve environmental problems and set up sustainable development strategies.

The new web site of RDC Environment must integrate the following aspects:

Miss Belgium Portal 2006

Skynet is the leading provider of hosting and communications services in Belgium. In the context of Miss Belgium contest for the year 2005, Skynet decided to hire Dixite to build a unique portal to publish the contest online and provide people with the up-to-date information about the contest and its participants. Skynet awards Dixite the contract.

To address the look and feel demands as well as intutive navigation, ESTIME methodology was followed in order to deliver a recognizably branded look and feel. Our Art Directors made sure that the imagery of the site was unique and pleasurable to view. Once out designers finished the imagery phase, our developers executed the implementation based on Dixite Portal solution. To be able to provide an easy to publish and up-to-date content, we utilized our CMS solution that enabled us to fulfill the content management requirements including a blogging feature.

The business objectives of Groupe ONE are to prototype a business analysis supporting tool.

  • provide a maintainable repository of sectoral business case studies organized by sector of activities;
  • organize the information based on the document typologies;
  • provide the information on-line with eventually the possibility to have it on CD-ROM;
  • targeted for Groupe ONE consultants performing business plan analysis.
